Staff Vinyl Picks: Spenser
The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society by The Kinks
Spenser: In my opinion, this album is the Kinks at their best. It is an album where they fully embrace being British. They paint a world that is really believable and different than what people were doing at the time.
Favorite Song on the Album: Animal Farm
The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Spenser: I picked this album because, as a whole, every song is really good. The album features the band pretending to be robots, and it's believable. Again, no one at the time was creating music like this successfully. It was a largely influential album for today's music. They were the forerunners of creating music electronically.
Favorite Song on the Album: The Model.
A Date with Elvis by The Cramps
Spenser: It's The Cramps, and their awesome. Enough said.
Favorite Song on the Album: People Ain't No Good
Harvest Moon by Neil Young
Spenser: This is my current favorite Neil Young album. I like it because Neil Young was really creative in the 90s. In the 90s, he was able be more experimental with his music. This album is him experimenting with the classic Neil Young sound.
Favorite Song on the Album: Unknown Legend
Horses by Patti Smith
Spenser: This is a very influential album in the punk scene. That genre was more of a boys club, but Patti was able to keep up, and really demonstrate her talent.
Favorite Song on the Album: Gloria
